2016 Circle Strings Baritone Guitar

Circle Strings Baritone Guitar, SN: 88, 09/20/2016 

This is a Circle Stings baritone guitar made in 2016 by Adam Buchwald. A baritone guitar is tuned in fourths a fourth below standard guitar tuning, B, E, A, D, F#, B. To accommodate the lower tuning, the scale length is longer than standard, in this case 27.” The body is also made larger with a width at the apex of the lower bout of 16 ¾,” an upper bout width of 12 ¾,” a body length of 21 ¾” and a body depth of 5 ¼.” The nut width is 1 13/16” and the string spacing at the bridge is 2 ⅜.” The neck profile has a slight “V” shape with a neck depth of .835” at the first fret and .985” at the ninth fret. 

The top is lightly bear-clawed Engelmann spruce, the back and sides are highly figured Sapele and the neck is mahogany. The bridge, fingerboard and headplate are ebony. The headplate is inlaid with the circle strings logo in abalone and the tuners are open back Waverlys plated in nickel with nickel butterbean buttons. The fingerboard has small abalone dots at the third, fifth, seventh, ninth, twelfth, fifteenth, seventeenth, nineteenth and twenty first frets, with twenty one frets in total. The rosette has three rings, the outer are each black-white and white-black respectively with a center ring of abalone with a single black line on either side. There is an inlay of highly figured Cuban mahogany in between these rings. The rosette is a striking contrast to the Engelmann top. The body is bound in Brazilian rosewood with a black-white purfling on the top, sides and back. There is a center strip of abalone separating the quilted sapele back plates with a single strip of black on either side. 

The instrument is equipped with an internal microphone and bridge plate mounted piezo amplification system with a soundhole mounted tone and volume control. It sounds great plugged in. Acoustically, it’s a beast with a deep rich tone and plenty of sustain.
