This Iris D-WH is a square shouldered dreadnought named after Will Hylton, who runs the CNC department at Iris Guitar.
The 25.5" scale and large body volume add depth and dynamics to the tone, with comfortable and easy to play “D” body contours. There is no pickguard mounted, though a Willy Watson pickguard has been matched to the guitar and it can be installed if so desired.
The standard Iris neck carve, beginning as a “C” Shape and tapering to a “D” profile as you go from the first fret to the twelfth.
While the appointments are understated, the wood selection stands out. The Adirondack top and rosewood back and sides were chosen for their visual appeal as well as their sonic qualities. The top is a wide expanse of evenly grained and evenly toned Adirondack, while the straight grained and well quartered back and sides show a color and variety not often seen on new guitar builds.
