Fender Stratocaster, 1977, SN: S781102
This is a 1977 Fender Stratocaster with a factory natural finish. It features a three ply black-white-black pickguard, a floating tremolo, three single coil pickups, volume, tone and tone. The back features a three bolt “Micro-Tilt” neck plate and a white plastic cavity cover. The neck is maple with a maple fingerboard and black dot markers at the third, fifth, seventh, ninth, twelfth, fifteenth, nineteenth and twenty first frets, with a total of twenty one frets. A bullet truss rod adjustment is mounted at the base of the headstock along with six “F” logo tuners with chrome tonneau buttons, the Fender Stratocaster decal, the serial number and two string trees. The nut width is 1 ⅝” and the neck profile is a somewhat deep “C” shape.
The electronics are original with pots dating to 1977 and three grey back pickups also with 1977 date codes printed on each. The switch is a five-way and a Fender branded sticker with the matching serial number to that of the neck was applied to the underside of the guard.
Overall, this guitar has survived without any major modifications. The nut has been replaced and the string spacing is slightly more narrow than usual. The frets are original, though they have been dressed down and they show some divoting in the lower positions. The finish shows a few dings, scrapes and areas of wear, particularly at the heel of the neck, but it is very clean overall. The guitar weighs in at ten pounds, not unusual for ash-bodied strats of the late 1970s.
