Orange Dual Terror Amplifier Head, SN: R100310220
The EL84 tube is a less common choice for a guitar amplifier’s output stage. It is small in size, with a footprint identical to most preamp tubes, like the 12AX7, though it’s just a bit taller. Even so, as the designer of the Orange Dual Terror, Ade Emsley, states; “I love output valve distortion and, for me, EL84’s have the most musical saturation.”
The Orange Dual Terror gives you a number of choices to find your tone, the Fat Channel offers up warmer tones while the Tiny Terror channel offers up the famous Tiny Terror options. There are six knobs and three switches on the front panel, one set of Volume, Tone and Gain for each of the two channels, a switch to choose either the Tiny Terror or the Fat channel, a Standby, Full or Half power switch and an On/Off switch with an indicator light. On the back panel, there are two 8 Ohm outputs, a 16 Ohm output, and a switch to choose between the operation of two or four output tubes. An input jack for a footswitch and the power cord plug round out the options on the back panel.
Under the cage, there are the four EL84 tubes, a power transformer, an output transformer and four 12AX7 tubes.
Overall, the head is in excellent cosmetic and functioning condition. There are a few small scuffs and marks, mostly around the edges and on the front panel. It comes with the Orange padded travel gig bag.
