Vintage 1966 Vox Mark IX 9 String Guitar Teardrop w/ Original Case

Vintage circa 1966 VOX Mark IX 9 String Guitar.

A super rare vintage Vox that should have caught on more than it did!  Features 3 single bass strings and three treble courses strung in unison.  We have this one strung up with an octave on the 3rd string like a more traditional 12 string for that extra chime.

Playability is excellent with a nice low, quick action.  The neck is still nice and straight after all these years.

Original pickups and electronics are still fully functional and sounding great.  The low end is clear and punchy, and the trebles are bright and jangly.

Guitar is all original and in very good playable condition.  There is signs of deep finish checking, common on many Italian made Vox's from this era.  The original neck pickup cover has a crack in it and a small piece missing on the bass side, but still functions and the pickup still works great.  The original "string dampener" mute system is missing, also common as most players preferred them off the guitar.  The original bigsby style vibrato works great, It is missing the plastic roller pieces that are typically found on them but it works great, possibly better, without them.

Comes with the original hard shell case.  Case has a super cool old Grand Funk sticker on it.

This one has got the vibe, don't miss it!  The 9 string configuration is odd but also lends itself really well to open tunings and drones, and can really spark some creative playing in the right hands.
