Vintage Circa 1965 Baldwin Burns Jazz Split Sound.
A super cool and vibed out example in original "Albino" white finish.
It is playing particularly great with a nice low action, we have it strung up with 11's and the neck is still nice and straight.
Features 3 original split sound pickups that are selected via the original rotary switch. "split sound" takes the bass coils from the neck pickup only and combines them with the treble coils from the bridge pickup, a great choice for walking a bass line and comping chords. The "Jazz" position selects the neck pickup, "treble" the bridge pickup, and "wild dog" selects the bridge and middle pickup out of phase for a super twangy bite. Electronics are all original except for the output jack which was changed to a switch craft jack for added reliability.
Original System 2 Vibrato works great and holds tune remarkably well.
The pick guard is an original Baldwin made split sound guard, though it is likely from a slightly later version of the same guitar. It has been cracked and repaired over the years as they often are. Three additional holes were also drilled into the guard at some point.
The serial number 9249 on the back plate dates to '65 or '66, though the serial numbers on these are often unreliable. It is generally regarded that The 10,000 numbers and up are from '66 and beyond, and the unbound fingerboard points to pre-66 or possibly early '66.
Comes with a gig bag.
